Models speak of a collective ambition; and reveal the embodied effort in our work. They are the story of process - the evolution of each design is expressed in the folds of card. Through models as working tools. Working at scale, we explore the impact of our designs from the inside and out, focusing our output on creating meaningful expressions of our ideas, as opposed to singular options.
Models are more than just a solution. They are human skill and emotion made solid, with each model bearing the individual characteristics of each maker, expressing a cultural journey, exploring context, form, scale and touch. Consequently, when viewed as a collection, the invested hours of handmade craft becomes a deep reflection on our methods and embodied effort, and a powerful immersive exhibit of thoughts, ideals, and ideas.
The materials selected for each model are important. They have their own language beyond the project - and their own story. Whether it be a vision, a concept, a diagram, a strategy, a detail, a test, a reflection - models are brilliant communicators. They tell stories of lightness, of weight, of texture, of depth, of scale, of effort, of imagination - all vital human aspects of what makes our built environment work.
